This registration page is intended for continuing education learners who intend to complete all (3) Lifestyle Redesign Core Courses in the 2025-2026 Scheduled Course Series cycle (September 2024-May 2026). Below is an overview of each course included in this bundle.

Core Course 1: Foundations of Lifestyle Redesign® | September 8, 2025 - October 24, 2025

The Core Course 1: Foundations in Lifestyle Redesign course is a paced asynchronous course designed for participants to obtain introductory understanding of the history, development, and evolution of the Lifestyle Redesign intervention framework. More specifically, the course will address core elements of Lifestyle Redesign; models and theories that inform the intervention framework; review of Lifestyle Redesign at the USC Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice; review of Lifestyle Redesign research spanning from the Well Elderly studies to recent publications; and Lifestyle Redesign informed evaluation, treatment planning, and goal setting. Assignments will assess the understanding of these concepts and provide opportunities to apply case examples to core technique utilization and evaluation processes.

Learning Objectives:  Following the course, participants will be able to:

  • Justify the relevance of Lifestyle Redesign for meeting the prevention, health promotion, and chronic condition management needs of clients and health systems
  • Summarize the history of Lifestyle Redesign applications within and outside of the USC system
  • Distinguish Lifestyle Redesign core characteristics and the therapeutic techniques that support use in clinical practice
  • Explain the theories and models that inform the Lifestyle Redesign intervention framework
  • Interpret the evolution of Lifestyle Redesign research and published findings
  • Apply the Lifestyle Redesign intervention framework to evaluation, assessment, treatment planning, and goal setting processes

Schedule: 
All course requirements (i.e.  lectures, videos, assignments, course evaluation) must be completed by the course closing date of October 24, 2025.

The course is divided into several modules, which will all be available at the beginning date of the course and progressed through an adaptive release process. Participants must complete all required components of one module (e.g., lectures have been viewed, assignments have been submitted) before proceeding to the next module.  All course requirements (i.e.  lectures, videos, assignments, course evaluation) must be completed by the course closing date of October 24, 2025.

Audience: This is an introductory level course designed for OT practitioners who are interested in acquiring Lifestyle Redesign certification and may or may not have foundational knowledge about this intervention framework.

Prerequisites: None.

Course Requirements: Participants must complete all course assignments and knowledge checks, as well as a course evaluation by the course end date to receive a certificate of completion.

CEU Credit: This course is 12 contact hours.  Participants must login and logout of the online platform to access course material(s). Participants must complete all course assignments and knowledge checks, as well as a course evaluation in order to receive a certificate of attendance.  Certificates will be available within 2-3 weeks after the course ends.

Core Course 2: Lifestyle Redesign® Intervention Delivery | November 10, 2025 - March 20, 2026

Core Course 2: Lifestyle Redesign Intervention Delivery is designed for participants to obtain understanding of Lifestyle Redesign intervention delivery across the five core domains: meaningful occupations, habits, and routines; occupations relevant to managing chronic conditions; psychosocial well-being and mental health; context and environment; and advocacy and accessing healthcare. Additionally, this course will address Lifestyle Redesign intervention sequencing, reassessment, discharge planning, and relevant documentation. Knowledge checks, reflection questions, and quizzes will provide the opportunity to analyze use of the intervention framework within current OT activities and demonstrate understanding of concepts. Learning activities will enable application of concepts to current and future clients and programs or projects.

Learning Objectives:  Following the course, participants will be able to:

  • Arrange interventions (e.g., time management, lifestyle balance, etc.) relevant to the development of meaningful occupations, habits, and routines within a Lifestyle Redesign OT plan of care
  • Demonstrate interventions (e.g., symptom management, sleep hygiene and stimulus control, etc.) relevant to the management of chronic conditions within a Lifestyle Redesign OT plan of care
  • Organize interventions relevant to emotional regulation, psychosocial well-being, and mental health within a Lifestyle Redesign OT plan of care
  • Explain interventions (e.g., body mechanics, home safety, reasonable accommodations, etc.) relevant to context and environment within a Lifestyle Redesign OT plan of care
  • Choose interventions (e.g., communication styles, community resources, etc.) relevant to advocacy and accessing healthcare within a Lifestyle Redesign OT plan of care
  • Apply the Lifestyle Redesign intervention framework to intervention sequencing, reassessment, and discharge processes

Core Course 3: Lifestyle Redesign® Program Development, Implementation, and Evaluation | April 6, 2026 - May 1, 2026

Core Course 3: Lifestyle Redesign® Program Development, Implementation, and Evaluation is designed for participants to obtain understanding of methods to support Lifestyle Redesign program development. This course will address preparatory tasks for program development including staffing needs, clinician qualifications, and interprofessional collaboration. Processes for program development will include needs assessment, stakeholder communication, and applications of the Lifestyle Redesign intervention framework. Program implementation processes will be addressed to support successful delivery of a Lifestyle Redesign program, including individualization, documentation and billing strategies, and strategies for patient retention. Finally, processes for program evaluation and monitoring will be addressed to assess clinical outcomes and service delivery optimization. Learning activities will provide opportunities for application of concepts toward the development of a Lifestyle Redesign program that serves the diagnosis/ses or populations pertinent to participants’ area(s) of clinical practice.

Learning Objectives:  Following the course, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize preparatory needs for Lifestyle Redesign program development including staffing, qualifications, training, and interprofessional collaboration
  • Outline principles of effective program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Create a Lifestyle Redesign program development plan to meet the needs of a diagnosis or population pertinent to the participant’s area of practice
  • Outline effective staffing and interprofessional collaboration strategies for Lifestyle Redesign program implementation. 
  • Apply approaches to evaluate program outcomes and illustrate approaches to disseminate findings to relevant stakeholders. 
  • Organize a Lifestyle Redesign program that aims to optimize patient recruitment, retention, and adherence.

Marissa Marchioni, OTD, OTR/L, CEAS, LRC, earned both her master's and doctoral degrees at the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. Dr. Marchioni is a clinician with expertise in helping individuals manage a range of chronic conditions, including obesity, diabetes, musculoskeletal disorders, sleep disturbances, and mental health challenges. With a focus on preventive health, she is passionate about promoting employee well-being in diverse workplace settings, from small businesses to large corporations. Dr. Marchioni has completed specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).

CEU Credit: This course is 6 contact hours. Participants must login and logout of the online platform to access course material(s). Participants must successfully complete all assignments and knowledge checks, as well as a course evaluation in order to receive a certificate of attendance. Certificates will be available within 2 - 3 weeks after the course end date.

Course Bundle

Schedule: 
These courses utilize a paced asynchronous format, meaning that they are designed with a set pacing to ensure each participant completes the course within the designated time frame allotted. Course assignments will have suggested deadlines to help participants progress through the course in a timely manner and complete all course requirements by the course closing date (see above for course-specific dates). Participants should plan to spend 2-4 hours each week reviewing course lectures and completing assignments.

The courses are divided into several modules, which will all be available at the beginning date of the course and progressed through an adaptive release process. Participants must complete all required components of one module (e.g., lectures have been viewed, assignments have been submitted) before proceeding to the next module. 

While synchronous (“live”) participation is not required, there will be opportunities to engage in optional synchronous discussion sessions, and communicate with instructors for questions and feedback, throughout the courses.

Cancellation Policy: A refund, less $50 administrative fee, will be made if a cancellation notice is received 5 business days prior to the course start date.  Cancellation by instructor/USC will result in full refund.
