Course Description:
This course provides you with the tools and knowledge to establish and maintain an occupational therapy practice in a primary care setting. It includes a detailed overview of service models, documentation practices, clinical and administrative outcomes, and reimbursement models. Emphasis is placed on the role of OT practitioners in primary care settings.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
· Explain an understanding of the various occupational therapy service delivery models in primary care settings.
· Describe the potential roles and responsibilities of occupational therapy practitioners in primary care at the level of the consumer (patient), community, providers, and organizations.
· Recognize best practices for integrating occupational therapy into primary care teams.
· Articulate models of documentation and reimbursement for occupational therapy in primary care.
· Identify ways for measuring outcomes related to occupational therapy services in primary care.
· Discuss the importance of marketing occupational therapy services in primary care.

Audience: This course is designed for OTs, OTAs, and others as an introductory level course; however, all levels of experience are welcome as are all areas of practice.
Prerequisite: The Introduction to Lifestyle Redesign® is a prerequisite to the other courses in the Life Management Series, and must be completed first. The pre-requisite is waived for anyone who has taken the USC OT583 Lifestyle Redesign® course or the AOTA Lifestyle Redesign® Webcast Series, Units 1-6.
CEU Credit: This course is 6 contact hours (.6 CEUs). Participants must complete a post-test and course evaluation in order to receive a certificate of attendance.
