CE Course 2 Sensory Integration Evaluation and Clinical Reasoning

August 21 - September 18, 2024

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge needed to accurately assess sensory integration function and dysfunction in children.  Participants will learn about a variety of assessment tools available to measure sensory integration dysfunction.  Additionally, participants will use clinical observations and clinical reasoning to develop a comprehensive understanding of sensory differences across multiple clinical populations and the impact of these sensory differences on functional performance.

Learning Objectives:

Following the course, participants will be able to:

Identify sensory processing disorders in a variety of diagnoses

Apply the theory of sensory integration in the evaluation process

Demonstrate critical thinking skills in linking functional and participation issues to sensory processing disorders

Describe the role of different methods of information gathering during the evaluation process

Recognize the role of hypothesis generation in the evaluation process

Apply clinical reasoning skills and existing data to Interpret the results obtained from the evaluation

Integrate observations with standardized testing and parent surveys

Plan intervention programs that address the child’s specific needs and follow fidelity principles

Interpret data collection measures to evaluate the child’s progress

Integrate all assessment results in order to form basis for treatment plan
